For two weeks I had the chance to walk around and meet Chinese locals. People of Shanghai, Beijing, Xian, Suzhou and Guilin. With this photo story I hope you will experience the atmosphere and the mood in China. The country is full with contrasts and a paradise for all photographers. Let’s walk together and meet the locals.
Have a look at the Chinese locals
According to the tradition, Chinese locals start the day with exercises in the park, which keeps them feeling young and alive. In the evening you can see them dancing on the city squares.
The sun is the biggest enemy of the skin. This makes the umbrella the best friend of Chinese ladies who dream of staying young forever and having white skin. An old lady once told me a joke: “You European ladies are more beautiful, but your expiry date is shorter.” Now I know the secret of the Asian beauty, let us buy an umbrella :).
Because of the hot weather and high humidity in China, the only way to refresh on the streets is to walk and dance in the fountains.
Red is the colour of happiness in China. All brides get married in red dresses.
Before going out on the streets Chinese locals dress up properly. They use hats and gloves to hide from the sun and a face mask against pollution.
In the next photo story I will show you the Chinese markets. Just remember for now that bargaining is a tradition and part of the Chinese shopping culture.
