Taste Bali

Come and taste Bali with me. Local food in each destination is important to me and is a good reason to come back again. I always taste as much as possible and I forget about all diets. In Bali there are plenty of fruits with unusual colors, shapes and sizes which will challenge your taste.

I will share with you my taste Bali fruit photo story here:

Let’s Taste Bali

Snake fruit (Salak) – my favorite one

Taste Bali

Snake fruit (Salak)

Local people call the salak also the ‘snake fruit’, because of its skin which resembles a snake. It is very refreshing for the hot days. It has a stone in the middle and a hard white fleshy part that is a little bit sour. This fruit is peeled, as you would peel a hard-boiled egg. I cannot compare it to any other fruit, which I know.

Papaya

Papaya

You see papaya trees everywhere in Bali. The papaya has a much sweeter taste. I can drink mango and papaya fresh every day.

Jackfruit

Jackfruit

This is another fruit I had never tried before. It is sweet, yellow inside and you can cook with it. In Bali you can try also chips from jackfruit. The more you eat, the more you get used to its taste. 🙂

Terong Belanda, Tamarillo

This was the biggest surprise to me when i went to taste Bali. It looks like a tomato, but it is sour and refreshing as a plum. The local people call it Terong Belanda, but it is also known as Tamarillo.

Pineapple

Pineapple

For breakfast you can enjoy a fresh pineapple in Bali. It is very tasty and juicy. I never thought before how it grew. In Bali for the first time I saw. I didn’t know that this fruit grows like the watermelon and aloe on the ground.

Dragon fruit

Another exotic fruit, which you can taste, is the Dragon fruit. It is juicy and refreshing, but the taste is neutral. I can say there is no taste, but because it’s juicy, they mix it in a fresh juices and smoothies with other fruits.

Coconut

Coconut

For refreshment in hot days you can find coconuts everywhere. The coconut water is a little bit sweet, but it satisfies your thirst quickly and it is very healthy. If you are like me, I don’t like drinking water, try it. It hydrates the body better and it gives you energy. In Bulgaria you can find it here >>.

Cacao

Taste Bali

Cacao

Everyone likes chocolate, but do you know that it is made of the cacao fruit. In Bali you can see cacao trees like this one on the photo. The fruit needs sun and when it becomes from green to brown, people cut it and take the seeds. Then they dry them and bake them. The real cacao gives much more energy than the chocolate made of cacao, mixed with milk and other products.

Mangosteen

Mangosteen

The last fruit in this photo story of taste Bali is the Mangosteen. It looks like a plum, but you don’t eat the cover. Inside it is juicy and white. It is not for every taste, but you need to try it. I have a friend and this is her favorite fruit on the planet.

In Bali you can find small tasty bananas, mango, papaya, pomelo, melon and watermelon and a lot more fruits. Just don’t be afraid and taste as much as possible. Once again I recommend to try the snake fruit. On my next trip there I need to try Buluan, Buah Buni, Durian, Srikaya, Kedondong and more. One journey is not enough.
